My professional mission is to build organizations that enable their people (employees, managers, leaders, stakeholders) to have better clarity and to live more fulfilled, integrated lives. I do this by helping business leaders understand the role they play in the challenges they encounter, and by helping them design systems in which they and their people can thrive.
The experiences I have had over the last decade plus have all contributed to this mission:
- I have advised executives on organizational culture through my independent practice
- I have coached and trained leaders on how to achieve clarity for themselves and for their teams with Talentism, a coaching company whose own mission is to systematically unleash human potential
- I have trained and led discussions about new ways of working with the Teal Team, a think tank which I co-founded
- I started and led the Employee Practice at Medallia, where I helped companies harness listening programs to engage their employees
- Most recently, I founded the Advisory function at Lattice, an HR tech platform whose mission is to make work meaningful
The path that brought me there was winding. It included several tech startups, a treasured craft brewery (Boston Beer), a beloved Hollywood studio (Disney), a couple of social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn), and a global management consulting firm (Bain). The common thread that runs through all these organizations is their consciously formed culture — each distinct, and each rich in its own way.
I was educated at Cornell University where I earned my BA, summa cum laude, and at Stanford, where I earned my MBA. I work out of my home office in San Francisco, CA, in a sunny neighborhood with plenty of coffee shops. I live with my partner and our cat, and enjoy dinners with friends, learning (and subsequently forgetting) languages, and driving stick.
